The only way to save America!

Today, Obama said that if we don't pass this stimulus bill right now, "this recession might linger for years. Our economy will lose 5 million more jobs. Unemployment will approach double digits. Our nation will sink deeper into a crisis that, at some point, we may not be able to reverse."

So lets look at this in perspective. Obama said that America will never recover if we don't spend:
$50 million for the National Endowment For the Arts
$380 million for the Women, Infants and Children's program
$300 million for grants to combat violence against women
$6 billion for university building projects
$1.2 billion to provide youth summer jobs (up to age 24)
$2.4 billion for neighborhood stabilization activities
$650 million for digital TV coupons

$89 billion for Medicaid
$30 billion for COBRA extensions
$36 billion for expanded unemployment
$20 billion for more food stamps
$850 million for Amtrak
$87 million for a polar ice breaking ship
$1.7 million for the national park system
$55 million for the historic preservation fund
$7.6 million for the rural advancement program
$150 million for the agriculture commodity purposes
$150 million for producers of livestock, farm-raised fish and honeybees
$2 billion for renewable energy research
$2 billion for clean coal power plants in Illinois
$6.2 billion for a weatherization assistance program
$3.5 billion for energy efficiency and conservation block grants
$3.4 billion for the state energy program
$200 million for state and local electric transport projects
$300 million for the energy-efficient appliance rebate program
$400 million for hybrid cars for state and local governments
$1 billion for the manufacturing of advanced batteries
$1.5 billion for green technology
$400 million for global-warming research
$450 million for for “climate-research missions”
$600 million for for “climate modeling”
$4.5 billion for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
$448 million for a new Homeland Security Department headquarters
$15 billion for business-loss carry-backs
$145 billion for “Making Work Pay” tax credits
$83 billion for the earned income credit
$2 billion for federal child-care block grants
$15 billion for boosting Pell Grant college scholarships
$4 billion for job-training programs
$1 billion for community-development block grants
$90 million to educate “vulnerable populations”
$8 billion for innovative loan guarantee program
$2.4 billion for carbon capture demonstration projects
$4.5 billion for the electricity grid

Obama says we may never recover if we don't do these things right now. Anybody fooled?
